I have been in love with yoga since we became acquainted some 27 years ago. Other interests have peaked and waned, but yoga has always been a mainstay for me. I completed 200 hour yoga teacher training with Cambio Yoga Studio of Colorado Springs in the spring of 2012. I have been teaching (and most importantly...learning) ever since that. I have especially been influenced by Shiva Rea and the Jivamukti, Integral, Sivananda, and Kundalini yoga teachings. Currently, I am taking the 800 hour Traditional Yoga Studies Program with Brenda Feuerstein and delving into the history, literature, and philosophy of this ancient practice.
I became interested in yoga for trauma when I taught at the Spring Creek Juvenile Center. Our world has never had a shortage of trauma. In regards to the faces of trauma and the faces of therapy, I believe there really is nothing new under the sun. This is why I am studying ancient yoga. In ancient times, we had amazing methodologies for mending the bodymindspirit, but we have forgotten them. When I share yoga with others, I like to impart these forgotten pieces of yoga's amazing and authentic wisdom for healing and transformation.
